  • Location — the browser must share location when a timer starts.
  • IP — the timer must start from a recognised network.
Either or both.

Before turning it on

This changes daily habits for everyone who tracks time. Tell the team first, and be clear about what’s collected — requiring location without explanation reads as surveillance rather than assurance.
Check your obligations too: collecting location data about employees carries legal requirements in many jurisdictions.

Field and remote teams

Location requirements suit on-site work. For distributed teams, IP restriction tied to a VPN is usually the more workable control.
