A milestone is a dated outcome a client is waiting for — “beta launch”, “content migration complete” — with tasks associated to it.

Using them

Create a milestone on a project, give it a due date, then link tasks. Progress rolls up from those tasks, so the milestone reflects real completion rather than a manually-updated percentage.

Why they matter beyond planning

Because a milestone is dated and has genuine completion underneath it, it feeds delivery-confidence scoring — a milestone with most of its work still open and a date approaching is exactly the signal that surfaces as risk in Reports and in your daily digest.

Milestones or sprints?

Milestones are client-facing checkpoints. Sprints are internal cadence. Use whichever your conversations are actually about — or both.
