# Recurring tasks

> Work that repeats on a schedule.

For work that comes back — weekly reports, monthly maintenance, quarterly
reviews — set a recurrence rule instead of recreating the task each time.

## How the next one appears

The next occurrence spawns when the current one is **completed or closed** —
not on a fixed calendar tick. So a monthly task that slipped two weeks doesn't
silently pile up unfinished copies.

<Note>
  Closing counts as finishing for this purpose. A series shouldn't end just
  because someone closed an occurrence rather than completing it. Reopening it
  later won't spawn a duplicate.

## Editing a rule

Changing the interval on an existing rule keeps the series' original start
date, so tweaking "every 2 weeks" to "every 3 weeks" doesn't reset the schedule
anchor.
